Gary Neville: The 'Busy C***' Capitalist Who Hates Our Flag But Loves Our Money
From the Union Jack to the Doha Dirham: Neville’s moral compass only points one way—towards maximum profit and woke applause.
As you know, footy is our national sport. It unites tens of millions of us around the box, the pitch or the pub each week. That’s why it’s often so dispiriting when one of the players you used to watch as a kid turns out to be a throbber of a leftist snob who made his fortune off the backs of white van men and now sneers at them to appease his newer middle-class market.
Yes my friends, just when you thought the Liberal Left had stopped losing their minds over ordinary patriots seeking to see their own national flags fly on our streets over a, say, blood-soaked Palestinian one or that of the equally blood-soaked one in the child mutilation lobby of the trans movement, out comes little Gary Neville with his size four boots ready to keep the ball in play to fill the void left by another Gary. I, of course, mean the serial attention-seeking lefty liberal arse otherwise known as Gary Lineker. It’s less principled political crusade and more savvy business from a millionaire who knows how to play market capitalism as a purported Labour luvvie.
The Attack on the Flag
In his video on the flying of our national flags, Neville criticises the ‘division’ being caused by the placement of our flags. He said: “Driving home last night... we’re all being turned on each other... the division that’s being created...”, if there is division in Britain, it is his beloved Labour Party that has created it. His video, of course, comes after a terror attack in Manchester in which Labour Mayors Andy Burnham and Sadiq Khan both allowed protests, or what perhaps more appropriately ought to be described as orgies of jubilation post-terror, to take place the very same day of said attack.
It’s fascinating to me that a man who was renowned at Manchester United for being a primadonna who would moan and groan about anything and everything accuses those who have far less in life than him of causing division by seeking to fly our national colours.
Gary was so upset by the sight that he admitted to taking the flags down on one of his own sites, “Last week there was a Union Jack flag put up, and I took it down instantly.”
Poor dear! He took down the flag of his own country! Our flag! The man is obsessed with division, yet he removes the one thing that should unite us all. This is the definition of metropolitan elite snobbery.
The Roots of the Elite Sneer
I first experienced my own encounter with this form of sneering condescension on Channel 4 News immediately after the Brexit referendum in which I campaigned and subsequently had my life turned upside down for daring to do so. I was told, on air, unchallenged, that of course I voted for Brexit as I’m “uneducated”. The older woman on the panel was Sarah Morrison, Vice Chair of Ted Heath’s Conservative Party.
I know how the millions of working-class heroes that voted for Brexit or who get up stepladders to hang flags feel after being smeared by their (at the time) political party, or by former footy players you used to venerate. The Union Jack isn’t a weapon of division, it’s a symbol of unity, King and country. But for the metropolitan liberal elite—who only pull out a flag when there’s a trophy to be won (or indeed lost)—it’s an embarrassing symbol that must be ‘instantly removed.’ Neville wore those colours 85 times, but now he finds pride (not that one - obvs) embarrassing.
The Moral Compass of the Chequebook
Maybe everybody would have more respect for Neville’s purported progressive clarity if he hadn’t taken Qatari cash during the World Cup, a country that shields Hamas’ leadership whilst the people in Gaza starve, a country that oppresses women and gay people. Would such a staunch principled socialist deny human rights abuses to appear on the state-broadcaster of a Middle East oppressor? Probably not.
He promised he would use his platform to ‘challenge them from within.’ He called the working conditions ‘abhorrent’ during the final, but only after he’d already banked a massive pay cheque. The money made no difference to him, he says—but it bought his silence for weeks. His moral compass is strictly transactional. He demands our leaders show compassion, but he shows cold, hard greed. How dare he lecture those on their own responsibilities for the simple act of flying their own national flag which stands in stark contrast to that of the Qatari one?
Conclusion: Own Goal
To put it mildly, Neville is politically incoherent; his politics bends with his wallet. He’s a capitalist developer who campaigns for the Labour Party, a moral crusader who takes blood money, all whilst ripping down our own flag to beat his chest and show quite how virtuous he is.
My advice to Gary Neville, the (in the words of one of his own footballing stars, moaning and groaning) ‘busy c***,’ is simple: Stick to talking about football. Because when you talk about politics and patriotism, all you achieve is a devastating own goal against your own credibility.
Another genuine racist, who needs to know the colour of someone’s skin before he can decide if their homophobia is acceptable or abhorrent.👍
