Good luck. I am still angry at Reform because of the treatment of Rupert Lowe and fear they will not do enough regarding deportations. I think you will be a good Councillor though and am sure you will win.

If you saw what Lowe wrote on Twitter, you might have more sympathy for Reform in the debacle. I don't know all the ins and outs of it all, and it should have been dealt with differently, but I do have a much better understanding now of why Reform feel the need to monitor people so carefully.

It seems you haven't been closely following recent events. I would also question your understanding of Nigel Farage's history regarding how he deals with those he perceives as stealing his spotlight. Those familiar with Farage's political journey know that he's not a team player. He tends to make attention-grabbing promises, only to fail in delivering them and then quietly sweeping them under the rug as if they were never made.

For instance, he once declared, "We will get rid of the ECHR," which later changed to "We will have a referendum." He also promised, "I assure you, we will fund our own investigation into the rape gangs," but then there was silence. By the way, have you signed Rupert Lowe's crowdfunding campaign for an inquiry into this matter? It's just under half a million pounds.

Recently, he stated, "We will initiate a private prosecution against the two Muslim brothers who broke the nose of the WPC at Manchester Airport. That just quietly evaporated & no more was said. However, Farage has said Reform will not carry out mass deportation of all illegals, deeming it politically impossible in a recent interview with Steven Edgington. He has softened his stance, or more accurately, has become a dhimmi, saying, "We must not alienate Islam, as we will lose." What type of defeatist rhetoric does that even mean? Perhaps you, with your knowledge, could explain?

Farage has a long history of political executions and ruining the careers of those he sees as threats to his overall control. He is not a team player; he is a self-centered narcissist who has always wanted to enter parliament. Now that he's there, he has shifted to the center-left and become part of the uniparty. People have been deliberately manipulated because they are desperate and are now clutching at straws.

His core voters, like myself, believed Reform was the solution, but many have sadly realized that Farage is in it for power's sake only & must not be allowed to become our PM because of his lack of integrity. He will eventually pass the reins to his now equal partner of Reform2025 Ltd, Muhammad Ziauddin Yusuf once he steps down.

He lied about Tommy Robinson who is undoubtedly a political prisoner, he was also not the first person to report on the boats arriving as he likes to boast. He was parachuted into the Clacton, making the original candidate stand down which he graciously did but he had incurred an £8K personal debt doing the canvassing with other activist spending his own money, Farage promised to reimburse him at the time and still has not. He is not the answer to our problems by far.

One needs power to do anything! What people need to say to get elected and what they actually end up doing is quite another thing! The proof of the pudding is in the eating. Farage always said that he wanted to do it electorally, which might not be possible anyway. Whether other people have other ideas, then they should not be associated with Reform. I am disappointed in both Lowe and Habib because it appears that they are in it for themselves too! Reform cannot be seen to be associated with TR etc, and you should understand this. If Reform can't attract both Consevative, Labour and LibDem voters, then that is game over anyway!

Habib and Lowe both complained about the lack of party support for their campaigns. You would have thought millionaires would fund their own campaigns and leave party money for those who are not millionaires.

See, they just complain! I’m fed up with it. We have serious problems, and all they seem to do is complain, cause trouble and divide us all. Reform were a tiny Party back then, so there were not enough people available to stand even. I thought Habib was very impressive before the Election and was sad that he wasn’t elected, probably because people didn’t know him. However, I think he should have just carried on doing his talks and concentrated on what he’s good at because, after all, it is the issues which matter.

Excellent news, Darren, I wish you all success & humbly apologise for calling you a Geordie previously. As much as I like Geordies 😁

shosh's avatar

I always thought Geordie was a complement. Full of grit and determination.

Mike H's avatar

Totally agree hence my caveat

Was Darren offended?

Mike H's avatar

No idea but I don’t want to get into an argument over this, 🙏

Well said and well done, Darren. Like some of the others here I'm disgusted with Reform's treatment of both Rupert Lowe and Ben Habib but I would definitely vote for you if I was in your constituency. I've never been to the north of England, except when driving up to Scotland, but have always admired your guts, straight-talking and terrific sense of humour. I've watched, during my (long) life as successive governments have done as you describe to your people. So this southerner is 100% with you (and maybe you'll move to the new and better party when it arrives 😉). Go for it and God bless you.

Absolutely right Darren. I was at a Reform meeting in Durham last night and a lot of comments echo what you say.

I wish you all the best and hope you keep on fighting for your beliefs you are amazing.

What a brave and momentous decision Darren. The treacherous words and actions of this dire government need a movement to challenge them. You are that person and I hope to see more locals standing up for their townships and the local people suffering the consequences. Enjoy your journey and I wish you much success in your plight

I wish you every success 🙌

Good luck Darren. I admire your spirit and this Country could do with more people like you stepping up instead of just talking. I will vote REFORM regardless of the Rupert and Ben fiasco because it is the only party that speaks commonsense and appears genuinely interested in sorting the UK out for BRITISH PEOPLE.
